My 2023 Gear

I remember when I bought my Canon 5Diii. It was the first time I was able to afford this upgrade to a full-frame DSLR from my Canon 7D that my dad had helped me purchase when I was starting out in my career. At the time I did not have enough credit and my bank only allowed me something like $500 to spend on my debit card (It was that long ago!). I ended up having to withdraw cash to purchase it. So there I was, walking across the street from the bank to the camera store with $5000 cash in my pocket to buy my first camera on my own.

Fast forward to today, the time has come for an upgrade to a full-frame mirrorless setup.

This year, after a few months of trialing the Canon R6, I’ve decided to make the switch completely. My kit now consists of 2 Canon R6s along with the RF 24-105 f4 L, RF 50mm, and RF 85mm for now. I’m still adapting my EF lenses with the EF EOS R adapter which has worked out really well. I’m sure it won’t be long until it starts getting populated with a couple of other lenses.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over my career, it’s to figure out what works for you. You don’t need all the gear, just the ones that make sense for you and what you shoot.
