2025, a rocky start
2024 was a very successful year despite a bit of a rocky ending. As always I feel incredibly grateful to be where I am, to be able to do what I love for work. It’s not always sunshine and rainbows. While I get quite a bit more freedom in choice when it comes to my schedule, it has its ups and downs and stresses just like any other job.
I had a very busy 2024. It literally went full speed ahead from February all the way til the very end. Unfortunately over the holidays, I was incredibly stressed out about Pixel and his allergies. How could this little dog take up so much of my mental, physical and emotional capacity? We went from work mode into holiday mode, then quickly into renovation mode (ripped up our carpet in hopes of reducing Pixel’s allergic reactions) and eventually, I crashed. I ended up with a chest infection. Pixel ended up having to go in to the vet to get his ear infection looked into. And here we are, at the end of January 2025 already. Pix and I are on the mend.
I believe that every hardship we are faced with in life, is a teaching/learning moment. Life hands these kinds of situations to us because there’s something we haven’t yet learned as a human. What this is for me and Pixel? I’m not sure. Patience? Resilience? The ability to let go of what is beyond my control? Get another dog for my high anxiety dog?
As with running a photography business, the challenges that have come my way have taught me to be a better leader, to set boundaries, to be confident with my communication, to make better choices, to empathize with others and to never make those mistakes again.
2025 for me is about reseting, revisiting my core values and to put more importance on mental health and well-being for both myself and everyone else.
I look forward to this next year with all of you!
